How do people live with, look at, and imagine animals?
This program gathers films that question the boundaries between human and nonhuman, observing where our worlds overlap, clash, or blur into one another.
Some of the works explore rituals of care, play, and companionship. Others expose how animals become subjects of study, symbols of power, or witnesses to history. At times tender, at times unsettling, the films reveal that our relationship with the animal world is never neutral. Although these films are inevitably shot from a human perspective, the filmmakers question anthropocentrism in different ways, reflecting on the uneven distribution of agency between species.
We won’t single out any particular work — instead, we invite you to follow your animal instinct in navigating the selection.
