José Luis Torres Leiva
(Chile)

José Luis Torres Leiva was born in Santiago de Chile in 1975. He has made a number of independent short films and videos, among which No Place Nowhere (2004), Women Workers Leaving the Factory (2005), The Time That Stays* (2007), Three Weeks After (2010), among others with which he has participated in several festivals, withstand. The Sky, the Earth and the Rain (2008), his first feature film, was screened in Rotterdam in 2008, where it was awarded with the FIPRESCI award. His second feature film, Summer (2011), was screened in the Venice Film Festival in the “Orizzonti” section. In 2013, he has screened two documentary films What Story is this and what is its end and Look and Listen. In 2016 he released the feature film The Wind Knows I’m Coming Back Home at various film festivals for which he received numerous awards. In recent times, he has premiered the short film About things that had happened to me (National Cinema Fund 2017) and the fictional feature film Death will come and shall have your eyes (National Cinema Fund 2016, World Cinema Fund Festival in Berlin, Visions Sud Este Fund in Switzerland, Ibermedia and Hubert Bals Fund of the Festiva de Rotterdam) premiered in the official competition of the San Sebastián Film Festival in Spain in 2019.
