Who’s premiering their newest documentary films at the 75th Berlinale? DAFilms had a look at the 2025 program selection.

In recent years, the non-fiction storytelling has gotten a lot of attention at the Berlinale, with documentary films winning the Golden Bear for two years in a row now (On the Adamant by Nicolas Philibert in 2023 and Dahomey by Mati Diop in 2024). This year, the docs are coming back to Berlin, with many of the premiering films made by filmmakers who aren’t new to the game. With the spotlight being put on their newest films, this program explores the previous work of filmmakers selected for the 75th edition of the Berlinale.
