We are celebrating International Women’s Day with the latest film by the Austrian filmmaker, Ruth Beckermann, accompanied by a new selection of feminist works.

Mutzenbacher, awarded Best Film in Berlinale’s Encounters in 2022, is a playful confrontation of the men of today with a notorious pornographic text written by an anonymous male author in 1906 and narrated by a teenage protagonist. Beckermann’s film is a documentary field experiment about male sexual fantasies, attitudes towards women, pornography and contemporary moral codes conducted by a sharp-witted director, who creates an illuminating collective portrait that breaks taboos and opens up a dialogue.
