Days after the Chilean coup d’état of 1973, 19 workers were arrested and taken to the Laja Police Station. After being detained for 5 days, they disappeared. Their relatives were told that they were transferred to a military regiment in Los Angeles, however they searched for 6 years to no avail, until remains appeared at a cemetery. For 40 years, no one knew what really happened, and the case was only reopened when one of the police officers involved broke his silence.
