Steffen Köhn, born in 1980, completed a Master’s degree in anthropology and film studies before studying film directing at the German Film- and Television Academy Berlin (dffb) and at Columbia University in New York. He produces fiction and documentary films as well as more experimental video art pieces and installations. His films have been screened internationally at such festivals as the Berlin International Film Festival, IFF Rotterdam, or Montreal World Film Festival. He has participated in art events like the Vienna Art Week or the Lulea Biennial and his work has been exhibited in museums and art institutions such as the Berlin Academy of the Arts, Hong-Gah museum Taipei and the Danish National Museum in Copenhagen. In 2014 he received a practice-based PhD in anthropology.
