Born in 1977 in Minas Gerais, Brazil, Marcos is a documentary filmmaker graduated from the International School of Cinema and Television at San Antonio de los Baños (Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión, EICTV – Cuba), and holds a specialization in Documentary Cinema from the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, Germany. He also has a BA in Social Communication (UFJF) and Psychology (CES-JF), in Brazil. He is a director, screenwriter and independent producer who has made documentaries in various supports (film, video, television), which have won 78 awards in national and international festivals, and have been exhibited in over 400 festivals around the world.He is currently one of the directors of CINEPORT – Cinema Festival of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (Festival de Cine de Países de Lengua Portuguesa), where he also coordinates an audiovisual cooperation network among young Portuguese-speaking filmmakers. Since 2009, he teaches a regular course at the Documentary Department of the International School of Cinema and Television at San Antonio de los Baños (EICTV – Cuba).
