Jean-François Caissy
(Canada)

Jean-François Caissy was born and raised in the village of St. Omer on the Gaspé Peninsula in Quebec. He studied photography at Matane CEGEP (1998). His work has been featured in various galleries and museums around the world, as part of several group shows. Following a film workshop in Amsterdam (2000), he created the sound & visual installation piece Mon doux camping (Sweet Camping). In 2003, he founded the Maria Films production company, producing and directing his first documentary feature, La saison des amours (Mating Season) in 2005. The film was shown at the Rendez-Vous du Cinéma Québécois (Montreal) and at the Namur International Film Festival. He developed, produced and directed his latest documentary feature, La Belle Visite (Journey’s End), while an artist-in-residence at Les Films de l’Autre.

Jean-François Caissy lives in Montreal. He is currently at work on a third documentary and an original screenplay.
