Shui-Bo Wang

Shui-Bo Wang was born on September 11, 1960 in China. He is known for his work on Sunrise Over Tiananmen Square (1998), They Chose China (2006) and Heavy Metal 2000 (2000).

Shui-Bo was raised during Chairman Mao’s Cultural Revolution and became a propaganda artist for the People’s Liberation Army in the late 1970s and joined the Communist Party in 1980.

In the early 1980s, Shuibo studied visual arts at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing where he later worked as an assistant professor.

Shui-bo came to Canada as a Graduate student in 1989 and began his career in film assisting world famous Canadian animator Fredric Back on his last film, the Academy Award-nominated The Mighty River.

In 2006 the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation honored Shui-Bo Wang with a fellowship.
