Born in 1977. Nimcova studied at the Institute of Creative Photography in the Czech Republic and later at the Rijksakademie Van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

She has recently exhibited her works at Utah Museum of Contemporary Arts; Moscow Museum of Modern Art; MODEM, Debrecen; Art Miami; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Mucsarnok – Kunsthale, Budapest; Aarhus Kunstbygning; Billytown, Den Haag; SMBA, Amsterdam and BWA Sokol, Nowy Sacz.

Lucia’s videos were recently shown at Now & After Festival, Moscow, Russia; International Short Film Festival, Oberhausen, Germany; Athens Video Art Festival, Greece; Werkstattkino, Munich, Germany.

Nimcova is a recipient of numerous awards, including the TatraBanka Art Award (Slovakia), ECB Photography Award (Germany), Oskar Cepan Award (Slovakia), Leica Oskar Barnack Award (Germany) and Baume and Mercier Award (Italy).

Her works has been recently acquired by Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, MUDAM Luxembourg and Slovak National Gallery.

In 1947 the Polish regime dispersed its citizens of Ukrainian nationality in the „wrong“ direction, to the north and west, to the side of the river Wisla where Ukrainians had never been present and could be expected to assimilate.
