Nikias Chryssos
(Germany)

Nikias Chryssos was born in 1978 near Heidelberg, Germany. In 2009, he gratuated from the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, specialising in directing. His short film Down (2003) was shown at over 80 festivals around the world (including Rotterdam, Oberhausen, and Uppsala). His film Tower Block (2006) had more than 40 screenings worldwide (Berlin IFF, Tribeca) and won 11 international awards (among them Odense, Clermont-Ferrand, Drama and St. Petersburg).
In 2005, he was part of the Berlinale Talent Campus and received a scholarship for the Master Class „The Hollywood Perspective“ at the UCLA, California. In 2007, he received the Karl Steinbuch Scholarship. In 2008, he was selected for the Résidence du Festival de Cannes in Paris among five other international filmmakers. In 2009, he was part of the Saatchi & Saatchi New German Directors Showcase. He published several short stories and produced a remix for 80ʼs cult band Siouxsie and the Banshees.
