Kevin Macdonald is a Scottish director. His films include a documentary about the 1972 murder of 11 Israeli athletes, One Day in September (1999), the climbing documentary Touching the Void (2003), the drama The Last King of Scotland (2006), the political thriller State of Play (2009), and the Bob Marley documentary Marley (2012). He is making a Whitney Houston documentary which is scheduled to be released in 2018. His second feature Touching the Void won a BAFTA for Best British Film in 2003 and went on to become the most commercially successful documentary in the history of British cinema. The director’s feature film debut The Last King of Scotland garnered a BAFTA for Best British Film and Best Adapted Screenplay, and the actor in the lead role, Forest Whitaker, won an Oscar for Best Actor. He has written for the British papers The Guardian, The Observer and The Telegraph, and his book about his grandfather, Emeric Pressburger: The Life and Death of a Screenwriter, was named Film Book of the Year 1994 by the British Film Institute.
