Jaroslav Kratochvíl
(Czech Republic)

Jaroslav Kratochvíl was born in 1985 in Pilsen. Besides studying political science at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, he also enrolled at the Department of Documentary Film at Prague’s FAMU where he successfully finished his studies in 2012. He is currently a doctoral student there, researching the image of Germans in Czechoslovak documentary film between 1945 and 1968. His student films mostly dealt with historical and political themes and were screened at Czech and international festivals. He has collaborated with the Czech Television on a series mapping Jewish cemeteries in 10 Czech regions as well as on the “Ex-Prime Ministers” series. He recently made his debut film “Long Live Hunting!” exploring the hunters’ passion.
