Petr Marek
(Czech Republic)

Petr Marek was born in 1974. Under the pseudonym Bunny the Musician (Muzikant Králíček) and within the music bands The Scalders, Unarclub, Kakaduo and The Beautiful Mover Gerard & Sexual Furniture (Krásný stěhovák Gerard & Sexuální nábytek), he has co-authored over 40 home-made long-playing albums. He is the author of music for Marek Najbrt’s film Champions / Mistři (2004) and for the film Nation to Itself / Národ sobě by Jan Gogola Jr. From 2006, he is a member of the MIDIlidi ensamble which also made music for the appreciated Czech film Protector. Since the end of the 1980s, he has made at about thirty short films and seven feature-length films (the shortest one lasting 9 seconds, the longest one lasting 4 hours) within the Unarfilm company. In 2001, he worked as second cameraman on the film Late Night Talks with Mother / Noční hovory s matkou directed by Jan Němec. In 2002, his feature-length debut Love from Above / Láska shora entered Czech film distribution in the co-production of Negativ s.r.o. and Unarfilm, raising extreme reaction, both positive and negative. In 2005, he introduced his “realistic mystery with a social aspect” Not of Today / Nebýt dnešní. From 1991, he is a member of the Decadent Ladybird Theatre (Dekadentní divadlo Beruška), further on he is active in the theatre projects Radio Ivo, Láhor/Soundsystem, Vosto5 Theatre, giving a guest performance as author, actor and musician in the show Nothing Can Stop Us / Nic nás nezastaví in the Ypsilon Theatre. He works as a lecturer at the Department of Directing at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU).
