Andreas Wutz

Andreas Wutz was born in 1962 in Munich, Germany and is an audio-visual artist, writer and curator. Between 1983 and 1986 he studied German literature and philosophy in Munich at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität. Later in 1986 to 1989 he studied painting and photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and in Düsseldorf (Staatliche Kunstakademie, Master), Germany. He also took part in several Artist in residence programmes in Rome, Prague and New York City. Since 1999 he has worked on short films and artist videos which have been presented at International Art exhibitions at film film festivals such as Rotterdam, Bilbao and Honk Kong. In 2000 he founded the cinema programme Kino der Piloten (Cinema of the Pilots) that specializes in presenting early avant-garde or scientific films together with contemporary short films in Berlin, Munich, Prague, Cuzhaven and Hoorn. He has collaborated with institutions such as the National Film Archives in Prague, the Film Museum in Munich, The Cristina Enea Foundation in San Sebastian, the CCCB, La Virreina and the Antoni Tàpies Foundation in Barcelona. For the German National Broadcasting Institution ARD he collaborated in producing several educational features and radio plays. His critics, essays and interviews have been published by Senses of Cinema, Texte zur Kunst, La Vanguardia or in catalogues such as Photography after Photography or Light is a Kind of Rhythm.
