Hana (Valentová) Železná
(Czech Republic)

Hana Železná is a Czech filmmaker, video artist. Graduated from Brno University of Technology, Faculty of Fine Arts in 2002 and from FAMU in 2009. Her films tend to create connection between theater, music, live performances and video. Her work has the character of media research, with elements of disturbing the surface, the decay of the medium, and the loss of image and meaning through copying, multiplication, contrast. On the other hand, more often than not her work provides an intimate experience. She uses degrading media surfaces within a broader dramaturgic context combining personal history, formal approaches, and the specific characteristics of the medium.
