Marko Škop

Marko Škop studied Journalism at Comenius University in Bratislava (1996) and Documentary Film Direction at the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in Bratislava (2001). He gained his PhD in Mass Media from the Faculty of Philosophy of Comenius University (2005).

His full-length documentary directorial debut Other Worlds won a Special Mention of the Jury at the 2006 Karlovy Vary IFF and was the first ever documentary in the festival's history to win the Audience Award.

Marko Škop was the script consultant and the producer of the film Blind Loves, documentary directed by Juraj Lehotský, which had its world premiere in the frame of the Quinzaine des Realisateurs and won CICAE Art Cinema Award in Cannes 2008.

His second directorial full-length documentary film Osadné was awarded the Best Documentary film at the Karlovy Vary IFF 2009 and nominated for Grierson Award at the BFI London FF 2009.

His 1st fiction feature project Eva Nová won the FIPRESCI Prize at the Toronto IFF 2015.
