HSU Hui-ju is a filmmaker and a mother of two children. Her films often explore issues of life and death. She tries to re-examine the painful life experiences both through the context of the family or specific fields. Her works provide insights into the absurdity of human existence with a quiet gaze. Her work has been shown and awarded at several film festivals, including the Yamagata IDFF, the Sheffield DocFest, the Visions du Réel, and the Golden Horse IFFl.
