Jonathan Caouette

Jonathan Caouette, a queer flmmaker based in Houston, Texas, is invested in breaking from the traditional rules of narrative and documentary flmmaking to create mosaic dreamscapes that act as sensorial happenings which hopefully ofer beacons of emotional uplift. He has been a prolific filmmaker for the past 35 years, directing multiple experimental short films, including All Flowers in Time (2010), three feature-length documentaries Tarnation (2004), All Tomorrow’s Parties (2009), and Walk Away Renee (2012), and numerous music videos, including April March & Aquaserge’s “Des Tics Et Des Tocs,” John Grant’s “Glacier,” Matteah Biam’s “Peach Tree,” and Mercury Rev’s “Coming Up for Air.”

His flms have won numerous national and international awards, and have screened at flm festivals worldwide, including the Cannes Film Festival, the Sundance Film Festival, the London International Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, and the Los Angeles IFP/West Film Festival, to name only a few. Jonathan created an extensive mixed media art installation work for the Velvet Underground/Lou Reed Retrospective, and directed an episode for Sugar (PBS) with producer Rose Troche.
