Hafiz Rancajale
(Indonesia)

Hafiz, also known as Hafiz Rancajale, was born in Pekanbaru in 1971. He studied Fine Arts in Jakarta Institute of Art (IKJ) and co-founded Ruang Rupa and Forum Lenteng.

Beside his involvement in independent film community, he also directs a short experimental film in collaboration with directors from Argentina, Mexico and Netherlands. He is known as videomaker in several international exhibitions such as Gwanju Biennale, Istanbul Biennale, and Images Festival-Toronto.

He is also an art curator especially in art based on historical research. He got Fellowship Young Curator from Asia, Jenesys Program from Japan Foundation in 2007. In 2003, he initiated OK.Video Jakarta International Video Festival with Indonesia National Gallery.

In 2010 he published his book and art video compilations titled "10 Tahun Seni Video Indonesia" (Ten Years of Indonesian Art Videos).
