Juan Manuel Sepúlveda
(Mexico)

Sepúlveda is a documentary filmmaker and cinematographer. In 2006 he received the Ariel Award from the Mexican Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for his documentary UNDER THE GROUND. His debut film THE INFINITE BORDER (2007) was selected to participate in the Berlin IFF, and also won the Joris Ivens Award at Cinema du Réel in Paris. He was the cinematographer on the film LEAP YEAR (2010), which won the Caméra d'Or at the 2010 Cannes FF. His film THE STRANGE SOUND OF THE LAND BEING OPENED IN A FURROW (2011) won him the Best Documentary Short Award at the Cinema du Réel Festival in Paris. His third feature film, THE BALLAD OF OPPENHEIMER PARK (2016) was selected at FICCI and Cinéma du Réel. His documentary THE STILL LIFE OF HARLEY PROSPER (2018) screened at Cartagena IFF and had its international premiere at Visions du Réel.
