Travis Beard

Australian born Travis Beard completed a bachelor in photojournalism and worked globally as a freelance photojournalist for 10 years. He first visited Afghanistan in November 2001 and subsequently he moved there permanently in 2006. Initially he taught photography at the Aina Media Institute before going on to co-found a skateboard school – Skateistan; a street art school – Wallords and the country’s first Music & Arts festival – Sound Central Festival. His first award winning feature film Rockabul chronicled Afghanistan first Metal Band District Unknown. Travis is now in the process of making his second film also about Afghanistan and writing a book about his travels work around the Afghanistan. Travis speaks at universities and schools about his work and career path.
