Carolin Genreith
(Germany)

Carolin Genreith was born in Aachen in 1984 and grew up more or less in the Northern Eifel. After spending a year in London, she studied TV production and journalism in Berlin (which she didn't like), worked in a program cinema and worked as a director's assistant and co-author for various filmmakers and production companies (which she really liked).
Her debut film Die mit den Bauch was premiered at the 2013 Berlinale and won the audience award at the German Film Festival in Ludwigshafen. This was followed by a successful cinema evaluation with over 50,000 viewers and broadcast on ARD. Carolin won the ARD documentary pitch in 2014 with the concept for her film Das Golddorf. The Golddorf premiered at the Dokfest Munich in 2015. Happy is her third long documentary.
Carolin Genreith lives and works as a freelance writer and director in Hamburg.
