Veronika is a film producer, director and programmer. She has been active in the field of documentary films, engaging with social-political driven narratives often focusing on active citizenship and the potential in civil societies. Among others she has worked on topics such as global supply chain in the textile industry, the dynamics of global south and north, current feminist movements in Rwanda or the political realities of post-soviet Caucasus region. Veronika Janatková is a graduate of numerous international training programs and workshops such as Berlinale Talents, IDFAcademy, ExOriente Film, DokIncubator, Archidoc - La Fémis, currently taking part in the Emerging Producers lab.
Her directing debut is a documentary film Ticket to the Moon dealing with utopias in the context of space explorations in the time of cosmic spring. The film is a German co-production with Kloos&Co. Medien, ARTE/ZDF and the Czech television and has been supported by Creative Europe.
Veronika is running the production company Pandistan based in Prague. Among its productions are Half Elf by Jon Bjarki Magnusson (IS, CZ, 2020, 64’), Living Water by Pavel Borecky (CZ, JO, CH, 2021, 77’). Their projects in development include Panic Button by Samara Sagynbaeva, a co-production with Kyrgyzstan, and Musica o Muerte by Hana Jakrlova. Pandistan co-founded the DokuBaku Film Festival in Azerbaijan in 2017 and Veronika programmed its first 4 editions. Since 2021 we are also co-organising the educational workshop for documentary filmmakers KinoLab in Baku, Azerbaijan.
From 2019 till 2022 Veronika was the executive director of the tranzit.cz initiative running the international biennale of contemporary art in Prague Matter of Art.
