Milo Rau
(Switzerland)

The Swiss director and author Milo Rau (*1977 in Bern) studied sociology, German and Romance languages and literature in Paris, Berlin and Zurich under Pierre Bourdieu and Tzvetan Todorov, among others. Since 2002 he has had more than 50 plays, films, books and promotions to his name. His productions have been shown at all major international festivals, including the Berlin Theatertreffen, the Festival d'Avignon, the Venice Theater Biennale, the Wiener Festwochen and the KunstenfestivaldesArts, and have toured more than 30 countries worldwide.

Rau received numerous awards: In 2016 the prestigious World Theater Day ITI prize as the youngest artist ever after Frank Castorf and Pina Bausch. In 2017: the Peter-Weiss Prize 2017, the 3sat Prize 2017, the Saarbrucken Poetry Research Group for Drama and he was named 'Acting Director of the Year' in a survey among critics, prepared by the Deutsche Bühne. In 2018 he received the European Theater Prize, and in 2019 he was awarded an honorary doctorate at the University of Lund (Sweden). Rau is also a TV reviewer and a productive writer.
