Slowly Curated Program Series Celebrating 20 Years of DAFilms
How to cope with the world and its dehumanizing discourses of violence, perpetuated by the rich and powerful? We don’t really know. But we are willing to try, with the help of the combative power of cinema. In 2025, DAFilms marks 20 years of its existence, and to celebrate, we are launching a slow curated program series focusing on one introspection-inducing film every month ― the kind of films that has been the core of our catalogue since 2005.
Since the relationship between signifier and signified is becoming ever so blurry (Nazi salute or an enthusiastic gesture? Special operation or genocide?), so does the necessity of finding one’s grounding get stronger. The aim of this series is to make us think - collectively, slowly - about the history and the future, the structures of power, but also about the cinematic language and its ideological implications. Every month, Slow Down with DAFilms will focus on one significant documentary film from the history of cinema and some accompanying texts and materials, allowing for a deeper connection and contemplation. Slow down and imagine reality with us ― here’s to (at least) 20 more years of DAFilms!
DAFilms.com is powered by Doc Alliance, a creative partnership of 7 key European documentary film festivals. Our aim is to advance the documentary genre, support its diversity and promote quality creative documentary films.
