I think about how I once thought. What it meant to stay or to leave at the place where we grew up. All my friends, my sister and me… It seem as if leaving was a given for most of us. I would have wanted someone to ask me if the place is some sort of accessory.
My sister and I grow up in the north of Sweden, in a county called Jämtland, close to the mountains. We live in one of the fastest urbanising countries in Europe.“I don’t think I am more than Jämtland”, my sister says, one day. “Of course you are!” I answer her, thinking that her words sound unambitious. That conversation came to be the outset of this documentary, this expedition about place, geographical location and identity.
