A son loses his father because of alcoholism. The people in a mining town in northernmost Sweden see their community slowly disappear into a hole, little by little. These two situations beyond control create pain and anguish; however, is it possible to compare an act of personal mourning with collective suffering? This is the question that filmmaker and narrator Gustav Hillbom seeks to answer, returning to his native town of Malmberget gathering information about its gradual dismantling. Following the existential adventures of two young musicians who, with their lyrics and music, are the last singers remaining from this working-class era. Gustav also turns the camera towards his own feelings. The two protagonists, their faces reminiscent of those of rock legends, plunge us into a literary atmosphere close to that of "In Search of Lost Time", where the withered hopes of a promising future meet the observation of the present degradation. The result of this work is a creative documentary that flies with the wings of nostalgia.
