In four chapters, this portrait of the Old Testament scholar Milan Balabán presents us with a radical interpretation of Christian religion and its Hebrew roots, confronting us not only with the deadened attitudes of Christian culture. In the light of Milan Balabán’s journey through life and his theological legacy, this mindset is stripped of its lifeless, accumulated, layers. What remains is an existential space-time, where we cry out for our own identity, and this cry brings us to the gates of a Paradise by no means forbidden. These gates lead we know not where, but only through them does Faith find true expression. God is that Way, that direction, which will confront us with ourselves.
