Film presents a multiple portrait of Czech actor Oldřich Kaiser. The diversity of viewpoints results from his depiction of a character from Čapek’s novel The Life and Work of the Composer Foltyn. Kaiser the actor portrays the talented musician Kanner, who earns a living playing the piano at dive bars, but he also talks with Kanner in his double role as conductor. Also present, however, is Kaiser the person, struggling with alcohol and possibly squandering his talent.
