The war in Iraq has caused one of the world's largest flows of refugees of our times. Like 2 million other Iraqis, Abu Ahmed, a tea vendor, was forced to leave his country – along with his wife and six children. His own relatives, who would not tolerate his marriage to his Shiite wife Wafa, expelled him from his home and continue to threaten him. His three oldest daughters have not been allowed to leave the house for three years, for fear of their lives. In Damascus, Syria, the family has found shelter – but not a new home.
