Even Flowers Wake Up in the Morning is a filmic expression of my feelings about the absence and death of my Iranian grandfather. Memories of him flicker in my head as if I were watching a projector shining old film clips in a dark theater. In this film, I cut together fragments of memories to express what he meant to me and to assimilate the reality of his passing. – I shot the empty house a year after his death in Tehran. The funeral footage were shot by a relative, since I did not have the courage to go to his funeral. Tara Khalili
