Chetna came to East Germany from India. She was eighteen and I was twenty three, when we studied at the Film Academy in Babelsberg. Twelve years later, Chetna died while we were shooting a film in India. Since that time, I've felt the need to make a film about our love, our time in India and West Berlin, as well as the East Germany of the 1970's. And yet, this was not possible without her, until she once again got involved. She just said, "Here I am", and that's how our last film together took place.
