A melancholic tale set against the breathtaking backdrop of the towering cliffs of the mediterranean island of Gozo, Malta. The story unfolds around Punta, a seasoned fisherman who, perched atop 50-meter high cliffs, practices an ancient fishing method that has been passed down through generations. With a heavy heart, he lowers a traditional fish trap into the depths of the Mediterranean, sharing his reflections on the drastic changes he has witnessed. His voice unveils a sentiment of loss, describing how the abundance of nature has dwindled to mere memories. The sea, once a source of life and sustenance, now shows the emptiness and haunting absence of the vibrant marine life that once thrived beneath its surface. A sorrowful female voice weaves through the air offering the soundtrack to the film. In a world dominated by industrial fishing practices, Just Sea invites audiences to consider the toll our actions take on the delicate balance of nature and the irreplaceable traditions that bind us to it. Through captivating visuals and the heart- wrenching melody of the sea's lament, "Baħar Biss" prompts contemplation about the cost of the relentless march of progress and the irreparable loss of the delicate balance of life beneath the waves.
