Off the beaten path of the conventional documentary, this film essay by visual artist Huanchaco explores the territories of religion, art, psychoanalysis and history to question Peruvian society's relationship with paternity, according to him, a structural component of this orphan society in search of a father. From Inca rites to the latest attempts to connect with the solar god of the yellow planet, the film relates an existential bewilderment that pushes part of the Peruvian population to want to find an original lost paradise, to want to reconnect with the figure of a father. In the intricacies of a delirious but logical journey, Huanchaco takes us to meet no less delirious characters that it films with critical empathy. The film's exploration is not limited to the collection of testimonies, it is cinematically affirmed in the impressive reconstructions of Inca processions, archaeological explorations and animations on intergalactic journeys. So many stagings and representations that participate in the Peruvian collective imaginary. - Nicolas Azalbert / Festival Biarritz Amérique Latine
