Abiding is a short film that questions the sequential and fragmentary nature of cinema. The artist removed the shutter of his camera and pulled the 35mm film manually in a single gesture. Without shutter the continuous influx of light disrupted the traditional representation and blurred the boundaries between cinema, photography and painting. The trees and the houses lose their solidity, the world appears melted together in a single image shifting in time.
