The first festival documentary film about Brexit chooses seemingly the easiest method: it asks ordinary people why they voted, how they voted, and what British identity means to them.
To this day, many Britons do not understand how in June 2016 their country voted to leave the EU and was split into two irreconcilable camps. The documentary lets representatives from both camps speak – people of different ages and education, coming from different social strata and geographical areas – without interruption, pressure or argument. The procession of unknown faces skilfully filmed in black and white forms a suggestive mosaic and a moving portrait of the reasons behind one of the most remarkable events in recent times. By way of an epilogue, the speakers' testimonies are complemented by the views of several experts.
