In Brussels, a citizen from Palestine, Dagestan, Iceland, and France conduct various performances involving religious imagery, particularly that from the Christian tradition, to show how this imagery has permeated Western culture. The performance not only depicts western Europe’s religious imagist underpinning, but also tells the personal stories of the performers who have become distanced from their original environment and native culture. Due to Brussels rich history and multiculturalism it is an apt setting to muse over western culture’s religious foundation as well as the displacement of people. The film, therefore, offers reconsiderations of lineage and how we think about home collectively and personally.
