Shortly after seven o'clock, after the guests took the last seats in the auditorium, the opening evening started. It offered a successful chain of various sketches and ready-made as well as random situations etching in this year's programming delimitation of the Jihlava festival. On the whole, the concept of the opening ceremony was based on the theme of RECONSTRUCTION.
Again, the long-time duo of moderators showed their original approach. A number of guests appeared on the stage during the programme, including director Vojtěch Jasný. He held an informal speech, ending it by an insertion borrowed from the ranks of surrealism. Thus he made a major part of the audience laugh.
During the evening, the first awards of this year's festival were presented. The Contribution to World Cinema award went to the special festival guest and jury of the Opus Bonum section, Danish filmmaker Jørgen Leth. The winner of the Respekt Prize for the best television, video or online report was the report "The Debtless" from the programme Reporters of CT produced by the Czech Television.
